Terms of Use for BoxBeat

1. Introduction

BoxBeat ("the App") is a workout timer app for training sessions, local workout history, and Competition Mode recordings.

The App is developed by a developer based in Germany and is distributed internationally through the Apple App Store.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Use.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App. Your use of the App may also be subject to Apple's App Store terms, device settings, and subscription rules.

3. Use of the App

You may use the App for personal training, workout timing, workout presets, local workout history, custom workouts, and Competition Mode recordings.

Use of Competition proof recordings is subject to the subscription and evaluation rules described in Section 6.

The App does not provide user accounts, developer-operated cloud storage, or social networking features. App data and Competition Mode recordings are stored locally on your device. Competition proof videos may also be saved to your Photos library if you choose to grant Photos permission.

You are responsible for using the App safely, choosing appropriate workouts, and following any applicable gym, event, medical, or coaching guidance. The App is not medical advice, coaching certification, or a substitute for professional supervision.

4. Competition Mode

Competition Mode is designed to create human-verifiable competition proof videos with persistent on-video timer and metadata overlays.

Competition Mode recordings include athlete information, workout identifiers, proof/session identifiers, timestamps, app version/build information, and visual watermark overlays that become part of the recorded video itself.

The App is not a cryptographic verification or server-attested validation platform. Acceptance of Competition Mode recordings depends on the rules and requirements of the relevant competition, event organizer, gym, federation, judge, or third party.

You are responsible for reviewing the rules of any competition or event before relying on a Competition Mode recording as proof.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

The App offers subscription-based premium access.

Subscription purchases, pricing, billing, renewals, refunds, and cancellation flows are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. The App does not directly process your payment card details.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled through your Apple ID / App Store subscription settings before the renewal date, according to Apple's rules. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID / App Store settings.

Pricing, taxes, billing periods, free trials, introductory offers, refunds, and payment availability may vary by country or region and are managed through Apple App Store systems.

6. Subscriptions and Competition Mode Access

BoxBeat is built around subscription access for ongoing Competition proof recordings.

The App includes one free Competition proof recording so you can evaluate recording quality and workflow before subscribing.

Beyond that evaluation recording, Competition Mode proof recordings require an active subscription, purchased and managed through Apple via the App Store and StoreKit.

Workout timing and related features that do not produce Competition proof recordings may remain available without a subscription, as implemented in the version of the App you install.

7. Intellectual Property

BoxBeat, including its original app design, branding, custom assets, and software implementation, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may use the App as permitted by these terms and Apple's App Store rules. You may not copy, redistribute, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the App except where permitted by applicable law.

Workout recordings, athlete names, workout identifiers, and other content you create while using the App remain your responsibility. Competition Mode recordings include persistent overlays, watermarks, and branding as part of the recorded video output.

8. Acceptable Use

Please use the App responsibly and lawfully.

You agree not to:

• use the App in a way that violates applicable law or third-party rights,
• intentionally falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent Competition Mode recordings or workout results,
• interfere with, reverse engineer, or misuse the App beyond normal personal use,
• use the App in unsafe training conditions.

9. Availability and Changes

The App is provided as an evolving product. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed over time.

The developer does not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, continued support for every device or operating system version, or guaranteed compatibility with every App Store region.

Changes may be released through App Store updates or TestFlight builds.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

The developer does not guarantee that the App will meet every requirement, operate without interruption, produce error-free recordings, preserve all local data, or be accepted for every competition, event or use case.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the App.

This includes, where legally permitted, loss of local data, failed recordings, recordings not accepted for a competition or event, subscription issues handled by Apple, device problems, or interruptions outside the developer's reasonable control.

The developer remains responsible where liability cannot legally be limited under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and may delete it from your device.

The developer may discontinue the App or specific features, including through future App Store updates or removal from distribution, if required by law, if Apple distribution requirements change, or if a feature is discontinued.

Deleting the App may remove locally stored App data from your device. It does not automatically cancel an active subscription; subscriptions must be managed through your Apple ID / App Store settings.

13. Governing Law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or region require otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer rights, those rights are not limited by these terms.
