Support for BoxBeat

Effective date: July 2026

1. Support Overview

BoxBeat is an indie iOS workout timer app with workout timers, workout presets, custom workouts, local workout history, and Competition Mode recording features.

The app is developed and distributed internationally through the Apple App Store. This support page is intended to help with common setup, subscription, permission, recording, and early-release issues.

The app does not require user accounts, cloud synchronization, or a developer-operated backend.

2. Contact

For support questions, bug reports, or feedback, contact:

Support email: karin.pietruska@icloud.com
Website: https://boxbeattimer.netlify.app
Developer: Karin Pietruska

Please include the app version, iOS version, device model, and a short description of what happened when reporting an issue.

3. Common Topics

Common support topics include:

  • restoring purchases,
  • subscription not unlocking,
  • camera permission issues,
  • microphone permission issues,
  • Photos save permission issues,
  • recordings not appearing in Photos,
  • Competition Mode recording questions,
  • TestFlight or early-release instability,
  • local data loss after deleting or reinstalling the app.

App data is stored locally on your device. Deleting or reinstalling the app, clearing local device data, or changing devices may remove local workout history, Competition Mode metadata, and locally stored recording references.

4. Subscription and Restore Help

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.

Every user can create one free Competition proof recording to evaluate recording quality and workflow before subscribing. Additional Competition proof recordings require an active subscription. If you already subscribe but paid access isn’t reflected in the app, try the steps below.

  1. Confirm that you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase.
  2. Open the app and use the Restore Purchases option where available.
  3. Check your subscription status in iOS Settings or the App Store subscription settings.
  4. Make sure the device has an internet connection so Apple can verify purchase status.
  5. Restart the app if the status does not update immediately.

Restore Purchases uses your Apple App Store account. The app does not provide a separate account login or backend account recovery system.

Subscription cancellation, renewal, refunds, billing issues, and payment method problems are managed through Apple. You can manage subscriptions from your Apple ID / App Store settings.

5. Competition Mode Notes

Competition Mode is designed to create human-verifiable competition proof videos with burned-in timer and metadata overlays.

Competition Mode recordings are created locally on your device. Competition proof videos may also be saved to your Photos library if you grant Photos permission.

Competition Mode recordings include permanently burned overlays such as athlete information, workout identifiers, proof/session identifiers, timestamps, app version/build information, timer information, and visual watermarks. These overlays become part of the recorded video itself and cannot be removed from the exported recording.

The App is not a cryptographic verification or server-attested validation platform. Acceptance of Competition Mode recordings depends on the rules and requirements of the relevant competition, event organizer, gym, federation, judge, or third party.

Always review the rules of the relevant competition or event before relying on a Competition Mode recording as proof.

Every user can create one free Competition proof recording to verify the workflow, overlays, and exported proof video before subscribing. Additional Competition proof recordings require an active subscription.

6. Permissions Troubleshooting

Competition Mode requires camera permission to record competition proof videos.

If camera access is not working:

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Find BoxBeat.
  3. Enable Camera permission.
  4. Restart the app if needed.

If you enable audio recording but audio is missing:

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Find BoxBeat.
  3. Enable Microphone permission.
  4. Check that the device microphone is not blocked or unavailable.

If recordings are not saving to Photos:

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Find BoxBeat.
  3. Enable Photos permission.
  4. Check available device storage.
  5. Open the Photos app and look for the recording in Recents.

If iCloud Photos is enabled, Photos syncing and availability across devices are controlled by Apple and your iCloud settings, not by the app.

7. TestFlight / Early Release Note

BoxBeat may be available through TestFlight or early App Store release testing.

During TestFlight or early release testing, some issues may still occur. Feedback is especially helpful when it includes the device model, iOS version, app version, and steps to reproduce the issue.

Recordings, local history, and local settings are stored locally and may be affected by app updates, reinstalling the app, clearing local data, or changing devices.

8. Bug Reports and Feedback

When reporting a bug or sending feedback, please include:

  • what you expected to happen,
  • what actually happened,
  • steps to reproduce the issue,
  • device model,
  • iOS version,
  • app version/build,
  • whether the app was installed through TestFlight or the App Store,
  • screenshots or screen recordings if useful and safe to share.

Do not include sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the support request.
